Kawasaki EX250 (1995) (baby Ninja)Mods:
Amy can now touch the ground!!!! For details on how I lowered the bike click here. History:After purchasing my TL1000R early in the year, and having a lot of fun going on rides with a local group of other bikers, I thought that it would be great if Amy could have her own motorcycle to ride. For Christmas I purchased a Kawasaki EX250 on eBay that had some damage, but was in reasonably good running condition. A couple days before Christmas I rented a U-Haul trailer, and led Amy out to the car to "go for a drive" (with pictures of the bike in her seat). Since the motorcycle was in Portland, OR, she had a couple hours to consider the gift, going through the classic stages of denial: "You bought me a WHAT?!!?", "Why in the world did you buy it?", "What a waste of money!!!!", "Is it really going to be mine?", "You are sure it isn't for yourself?", "If its mine I want to get it painted pink!", "I'm gonna put Powerpuff Girls stickers all over it!!". After we picked up the bike I ordered the lowering links, clip-ons, and a few other parts to lower it. We pulled off the fairings, patched a hole in the fuel-tank, lowered the bike, and she begain practicing on the weekend mornings in a nearby parking lot. In late January she took the Motorcycle Safety Foundation training class and obtained her licence. After riding for a number of months without significant mishap we picked up the material and tools to paint the fairings and tank pink, and apply the graphics. The bike was shown in the December 2004 International Motorcycle Show in Seattle, WA. For this show it got a fresh polish, a few nuts and bolts replaced with nicer ones, new pegs, and a single-sided Muzzy full exhaust kit and a re-jet. |
